The background to Dreams Academy is a number of different projects since 2000. Based on the further development of scout activities and a meeting place in Akalla Magnus the “Creative Centre” in 2000 and a project in “Söderviks”- School in Upplands Väsby, Swedenin cooperation with the school management and the Municipality. It was a program every Wednesday at 4-9 PM for grades 6-9.
The Centre supported the ideas and dreams of the youth and coaching their own creativity. A wide range of activities were carried out for several years. The youth was coached by Magnus with three other leaders. The meeting place also had a cafe run by the youth and they are arranged disco, trips, built go-carts, electronics, baking, cooking, sewing and painted and much more.
The project got some attention in the article (below) and did receive an Honorable Mention in the Schools Peace Prize of Crown Princess Victoria in 2001. The project was later developed further on the basis of intensive studies in psychology and coaching and a new project: “Dreams” was established in the Edsberg School, 2009-2010 for ages 13-17 years.
A new educational model was established. Very encouraging results and effects achieved among a group of about 20 young people.
